Ever wanted to hand feed donkeys and get to know more about what these delightful animals are like? Pebzz visited the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, East Devon this month and we recommend it as a fantastic family day out.
With nearly 500 donkeys being the main attraction which can be seen across the rolling fields of the sanctuary, to a great new restaurant complex with views over the sanctuary, a shop and long walks, it surely has something for everyone. Kids can have a hands on experience with the donkeys as well as ask the staff lots of questions.
Although undergoing major modernisation at the moment, the sanctuary has ample free parking and entrance is also free.
The new restaurant offers a great choice of healthy dishes & local cakes. Fancy a hearty Sunday roast where you can also enjoy one of Devon's finest views, over the #donkeys paddocks and rolling hills of #Devon to the sea? Well good news, from 8th October 2017 you can with The Kitchen's Sunday roasts, every week 12-3pm!
The sanctuary also offer a 'Meet the Groom' sessions running every morning and afternoon which offer a chance for you to hear all the donkeys' latest stories and get to know these delightful characters better.
If you are stuck for Christmas present ideas, there is also a chance to adopt a donkey. The donkey sanctuary is a worldwide organisation helping over 6,300 donkeys worldwide.
