July was a very successful month with my horses. Both Rosie and Scoops have exceeded expectations and have had a very good start to the summer. On Saturday 21st July, me and Rosie competed at our second one day event, at Offchurch Bury, in the Pony Club Regional Qualifiers. Rosie produced a tense but good test for 32.5 (67.5%), a lovely clear showjumping and an extremely confident cross country round, with just one glance off a fence which dropped us out of the placings. However my team still managed to place 5th - meaning we have qualified for the pony club eventing championships later in August! The day after I decided to take Scoops showjumping in preparation for our national competition which is coming up. Instead of aiming to be placed, we aimed to have two confidence building and relaxed rounds. Yet Scoops jumped two impeccable clear rounds in the 80cm and 90cm to achieve 6th and 3rd.
The next weekend I took Rosie back to Offchurch Bury to compete at the unaffiliated one day event. Rosie was better than ever and was much more relaxed than she was at her previous events. Her dressage was very good but an unfortunate few mistakes from me gave us a disappointing, yet fair, 34 (66%). Then, during the showjumping, the heavens opened on us leading to an unfortunate pole. But considering the conditions I was very pleased. Rosie then really stole the show in the cross country and we achieved our first clear cross country round! Unfortunately a few time faults meant we were dropped from 7th place but I’m so over the moon with how she has been over the last month!
Our next stop is Trailblazers National Championships with Scoops in the 85cm Showjumping and Rosie in the Novice Combined Training!
Thanks to my sponsors, Pebbz, for all their support.
