It’s been a very successful past few weeks for me, Rosie and Scoops. We started at the British Riding Clubs Arena Eventing Championships at Aston le Walls with Rosie in the 80cm which was an amazing experience! Although we had 8 faults in the showjumping, Rosie completely flew around the cross country phase to place slap bang in the middle of my class of over 70 competitors! I’m very proud of Rosie’s behaviour, as she was a gem from start to finish even in a buzzy atmosphere.
A couple of weeks later, we headed to Vale View for the Trailblazers Championships 2nd Rounds, and although we had a sticky warmup round, Rosie jumped a lovely clear in the 85cm to come 3rd and qualify for Nationals in August!! This weekend we have the BRC Combined Training Qualifiers which we are looking forward to.
For Scoops this month has been dedicated to kick starting our way back out onto the competition circuit, and in true Scoops fashion we came out in style. A couple of weeks ago we took Scoops to Onley Equestrian Centre to jump the 80cm and 90cm. He jumped out of his skin in both rounds to come 2nd in the 80cm and 1st in the 90cm! Last weekend we faced our hardest challenge yet. We pulled our socks up and braved Vale View - the competition venue where everything goes to pot for us. However, yet again, Scoops jumped out of his skin after being dumped right into the deep end. I decided on doing the 95cm twice because I didn’t want to push for the 105cm, it’s just a little out of my comfort zone at the moment, but nonetheless Scoops jumped insanely for only 8 faults in his first round then 4 faults in his second round! Very pleased to have conquered our ‘Vale View demons’ so we can get back on track and start climbing up the heights again.
