The months of April and May have been beyond successful for Rosie, who competed in many BRC Area competitions.
At the start of April we competed at the BRC Combined Training at Solihull, which is a dressage test followed by a round of showjumps. Rosie executed a lovely dressage test for 69.7% and finished with a lovely clear showjumping to place 5th individually and 4th as a team.
The next weekend we did the BRC Eventer Trial at Swalcliffe Park, where you do a round of showjumps and carry straight onto a cross country course. Although the ground was quite slippy and the cross country was one of the biggest courses we’ve done, we flew round to do a lovely double clear to come 5th individually and 3rd as a team!
A few weekends on and we headed down to our riding club field for their May Bank Holiday show. Rosie had a pole in the 80cm but a speedy clear in the 90cm gave us 1st place and a qualification for the ESUK National Championships, Rosie’s third national qualification this year!
The weekend after I took Rosie down to Solihull again, this time for our first ODE of the season. Rosie was incredible as always and we got an amazing result, despite being a few months behind everyone else! A super dressage of 35.3 (64.7%), a silly pole SJ and a storming clear cross country inside the time placed us 8th in our section of 30!! A very promising start to the season with loads of places to improve :)
I’m looking forward to the start of June, where we have the BRC Area 5 ODE qualifiers, where we’ll hopefully replicate our success! Unfortunately for Scoops we’ve taken a few steps backwards, with some naughty habits developing. However it seems as though everything is looking up after a really enjoyable outing last weekend!
