The question that everyone wants the answer to – After all, we want our posts to have maximum impact!
However, unsurprisingly, the answer isn’t as simple as Sunday 6 pm (despite what people may think!). The best time to post on social media will depend on when our audience is online, and when your audience use specific social networks.

What does the typical day in the life of your audience look like? Consider how this may impact when they look at their social media profiles. For example, chances are, if your audience works regular 9-5 jobs, they’ll be looking at social media sites during their lunch breaks, on their commute and at the weekend. Whereas, if your audience is university students, chances are they will be checking social media at different times.
2. Look at what time your posts get the most engagement
An easy way to work out when the best time to post on social media is, is through looking at what times and days you get the most engagement on social media currently.
For Twitter, go into ‘Twitter Analytics’ and sort by ‘Top Tweets’, you can then look at your top tweets. Analyse which time and day get the most engagement.
For Facebook, go into ‘Insights’ of your page, to look at what days you get the most reach and likes.
On Instagram, if you have a business profile, you can look at Instagram’s analytics feature.
Over time you can experiment by posting at different times to see how much engagement your post gets. Remember the engagement of each social media post will also depend on the content itself. Therefore, ensure you test each time and day more than once.
